"COLOSTRUM 80/40™
Hyper Immune Colostrum:
It is specially prepared through our advanced technique to
remove the
casein and lactose and carefully tested to confirm that the final product
contains less than 1 % of casein and less than 1 % of lactose.
The concentrated colostrum provides a minimum of 40% IgG,
the
principal immune factor found in colostrum, and that's 40% by total
dry weight, making Colostrum 80/40™ the most potent
immune-boosting colostrum available".
The above is to initially tell you something about our
newest addition to
those supplements and health improving products that do what they
claim they will do. That is: THEY WORK !

LET'S START WITH SOME COLOSTRUM
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is COLOSTRUM ? Colostrum is the pre-milk fluid
secreted by
mammalian mothers after giving birth. Colostrum acts to transfer valuable
immune factors from the mother to the newborn. As our bodies age, we
produce less of the immune factors needed to ward off disease and infection.
Supplemental colostrum can help replenish these stores.
Why bovine (cow) Colostrum ? Research shows that bovine
colostrum is not
species specific and, therefore, is effective in humans. In fact, bovine
colostrum contains many times more of the immune factors needed
than the human colostrum.
Do the newborn calves receive all the colostrum they need
? Yes, dairy cows
produce abundantly more colostrum than a newborn calf can ingest.
Dairy farmers know that the key to a healthy dairy herd begins
with the calf consuming as much colostrum as possible.
We use only the excess colostrum in our products.
Where does the colostrum liquid come from ? We
cooperate with a USDA-
registered establishment for the preparation of veterinary biological
(pharmaceutical" products. We collect the liquid colostrum from
almost
five thousand approved dairies and 2.2 million head of dairy cows in a four
state region, representing North America's largest supplier of Colostrum,
as well as one of the largest and most respected colostrum production
facilities in the world.
What quality controls are in place ? We have a
complete GMP and HAACP
program in place, which applies stringent guidelines to our collection dairies.
All colostrum must be collected and placed into sanitized single use containers
and immediately transferred to a freezer to maintain product activity and
quality.
Freezing colostrum at this point does not reduce its
dietary benefits and is necessary
to reduce risk of bacterial contamination. The colostrum liquid is
thermally treated
by our proprietary low-temperature pasteurization process, which has been
reviewed and approved by state and federal agencies.
Our low-nitrite emission, top-of-the-line spray-dryers have
been specifically
engineered to dry colostrum with a minimum of heat exposure,
thus assuring high activity and vital immune factors.
Should I be concerned about possible antibiotic or
pesticide contamination ? No.
All of our colostrum comes from U. S. dairies that are closely monitored to
assure
product quality. Pesticide contamination of Grade A dairy cattle feed is
tightly
regulated in the U. S. Pesticide contamination in colostrum from U. S.
sources is
less of a concern than that promoted by importers of foreign colostrum products.
The U. S. dairy industry is a model of safety and quality
for the rest of the world.
Antibiotic usage is also tightly monitored. Beta-lactams are allowed in
the human
milk supply in the U. S. Under state law, we must demonstrate that our
colostrum
for the human market is beta-lactam (antibiotic) free.

HOW BETTER HEALTH BEGINS
COLOSTRUM PRODUCTS
COMMITMENT TO QUALITY
The bovine colostrum powder used in our products is
produced from pure
bovine origin colostrum liquid collected from controlled, healthy Grade A
dairy herds. These dairy herds are of U. S. origin and are fed diets free
of animal products, antibiotics and hormones. We do not use colostrum
from European or New Zealand sources, and BSE has never been detected
in the U. S. PNI's colostrum ingredient is produced in cooperation with
La Belle, Inc. in state-of-the-art facilities located in Washington and
California and registered with both the California and Washington State
Licensing Divisions as food processing facilities. These production
facilities meet the requirements of the 1994 Dietary Supplement Health
and Education Act, using GMP and HACCP procedures. They are also
registered USDA establishments for the preparation of veterinary
biological (pharmaceutical) products.
All incoming colostrum liquid is quality control checked
for pH, total solids,
and specific gravity. This Q. C. check assures that only the best liquid
colostrum is used to produce the pray-dried powders.
High quality colostrum contains a variety of active
immunoglobulins and antibodies
for many pathogens that affect all mammals. The active antibodies for Eschrichia
coli, Salmonella spp., Helicobacter pylori, Clostridium spp., and Staphylococcus
spp.
have been identified. The activity of these antibodies and antiviral
agents has been
confirmed using Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA).
The immunoglobulin activity of colostrum in our products is
measured using the
latest Radial Immuno Diffusion (RID) technology. Immunoglobulin G (IgG) is
the principal antibody found in colostrum and includes the subclasses IgG1
and
IgG2. IgG1 makes up approximately ninety-percent of the total IgG content
in
colostrum. IgM is the first class of antibodies to appear after an antigen
invades
the body. IgA is the next major class of Immunoglobulin found in
colostrum.
IgA is transported across epithellial cells to be found in intestinal tract
mucus,
bronchial mucus, saliva and tears.
Every lot of colostrum used in our products is assayed for
IgG content, microbiological
contamination (total place count, coliforms, Salmonella spp., Escherichia coli,
Staphylococcus aureus, and fungi), moisture, fat, protein, antibiotics, total
carbo-
hydrates, ash, bulk density, and scorched particle. Particle size testing
is also
included on every produced lot of colostrum used.
